This oil painting cardboard, titled "Haystacks and mountain view", the composition presents an expansive field dotted with haystacks, set against a dramatic mountain range bathed in the light of the late afternoon or early evening sun. The artist employs thick, expressive brushstrokes and a vibrant color palette to create a rich and textured scene full of movement and life. In the foreground, the golden hues of the haystacks dominate the composition. Their conical shapes stand tall against the rugged terrain, their sunlit surfaces contrasting with the cooler tones of the ground and surrounding vegetation. The thick application of paint, particularly in the depiction of the hay, gives the impression of dried grass shimmering under the sunlight. Earthy browns, deep oranges, and hints of red blend together, reinforcing the warmth of the rural setting. Scattered rocks and uneven patches of land add a sense of natural imperfection, further grounding the painting in realism despite its expressive execution. The brushwork creates a tactile sensation, making the viewer almost feel the rough texture of the ground beneath the haystacks. Beyond the field, a lush forest of deep green and golden trees serves as a natural divider between the land and the distant mountains. The foliage appears dense, with thick strokes of dark green and hints of yellow, suggesting the turning of seasons. The trees seem to sway slightly, their forms softened by the impressionistic technique, allowing the colors to merge seamlessly. The background features a breathtaking mountain range, painted in rich blues and purples, which contrast beautifully with the sunlit foreground. The cool tones of the mountains provide depth, making the landscape feel vast and expansive. The peaks are softened by atmospheric perspective, as if they are partially enveloped in a gentle haze. Above, the sky is a blend of soft blues and delicate pinks, suggesting the transition from day to dusk. The artist uses subtle variations in tone to create a sense of shifting light, further enhancing the dynamic quality of the scene. The overall composition conveys a sense of tranquility and timelessness, celebrating the rural way of life and the beauty of nature.
