This oil painting cardboard, titled "Orange sunset over the mountains", the artwork is dominated by warm, earthy tones—burnt oranges, deep reds, and golden yellows—that convey a sense of both warmth and mystery as daylight fades into twilight. In the foreground, a vast field stretches towards the horizon, painted with thick, textured brushstrokes that create a rich and tactile surface. The land is covered in dry grass and scattered rocks, their warm ochre and rust-like hues mirroring the golden glow of the setting sun. The use of impasto technique gives depth and structure to the terrain, making it feel rugged and dynamic. Amidst the golden field, small dark figures—likely cattle or grazing animals—are scattered, their silhouettes contrasting against the luminous background. To the right, a single, slender tree trunk stands alone, its pale bark catching the last light of the sun. It leans slightly, as if weathered by the elements, and serves as a focal point that guides the viewer’s eye towards the background. Beyond the field, rolling hills and mountains rise in the distance, painted in deep, shadowy tones of purple and brown. These darker hues create a stark contrast with the brilliance of the sky, adding depth and a sense of scale to the composition. The mountains appear to fade into the horizon, their forms softened by the atmospheric perspective. The sky is a breathtaking blend of fiery oranges, dusky reds, and moody greens, evoking the intensity of a sunset in its final moments before nightfall. The dramatic swirling clouds are painted with expressive, sweeping brushstrokes, giving the impression of a sky in motion, as if the wind carries the last warmth of the day across the heavens. The overall mood of the painting is both serene and powerful. The rich, warm palette creates an immersive experience, drawing the viewer into the landscape’s raw beauty. The juxtaposition of the golden fields, grazing animals, and the dramatic sky captures a fleeting moment of nature’s grandeur—an evening where the world seems to glow with the remnants of daylight before succumbing to the cool embrace of night. This painting invites contemplation, offering a glimpse into the harmony of nature and the passage of time. It captures the essence of a quiet rural life, where the setting sun marks the end of another day, casting its golden farewell over the vast, untamed land.
