Vadim Ivanovich Odainik (1925–1984) is a world-famous Ukrainian painter whose works have been presented at leading international auctions and admired by collectors for their portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. He is recognized as an important figure of the post-war Ukrainian art scene, noted for his strong color sense and expressive realism.

Odainik’s art is distinguished by emotional sincerity, vivid composition, and skillful portrayal of both people and nature. His works often explore everyday life—ordinary figures, domestic interior scenes, and outdoor views—rendered with clarity, warmth, and often a lyrical touch. He belonged to the generation of artists working during the “Thaw” period from the late 1950s through the 1970s, when artistic expression loosened somewhat and new styles and personal voice became more visible.

Born on July 29, 1925 in Odesa, Odainik graduated from the Kyiv State Institute of Arts in 1952. He joined the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1958, and over time was awarded the title People’s Artist of Ukraine in 1978. Earlier, in 1971, he was honored as Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. He died on December 21, 1984 in Kyiv.

His works are preserved in Ukrainian museums and private collections. Regularly presented at international auction houses, Odainik’s paintings remain in demand for their artistic quality, cultural significance, and emotional depth.
