Petr Kuzmich Stolyarenko (1925–2018) is a world-renowned Ukrainian painter whose works have been presented at leading international auctions and are highly admired by collectors. He is celebrated for his lyrical landscapes, marine views, still lifes, and thematic compositions, often centered around the sea, coast, boats, and changing light of Crimea.

Stolyarenko’s art is distinguished by its poetic realism, mastery of color, and evocative sense of nature’s moods. His paintings often capture transitional states: dawn or dusk by the sea, the reflections of water, the horizon line, and serene vistas. His still lifes and genre scenes also display compositional balance, rich texture, and expressive color, making them especially prized by museums and private collectors alike.

Born on July 13, 1925 in the village of Kapkany (now a district of Kerch), Crimea, he grew up in the family of Kuzma Stolyarenko, who worked as an ichthyologist and fishery manager. Before the war, Petr attended the workshop of K. F. Bogayevsky. During World War II, he served in a partisan detachment. From 1945, he studied in the studio of fine arts at the Feodosia Aivazovsky Picture Gallery under N. S. Barsamov. From 1948, he began participating in exhibitions, including republican, all-Union, and international shows. His first personal exhibition was held in 1963 in Kyiv. He became a member of the Union of Artists of USSR in 1953.

He was awarded the title Honored Artist of Ukraine in 1972, and People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR in 1985. He lived and worked in Yalta for many years, exhibiting broadly both in Ukraine and abroad. Petr Kuzmich Stolyarenko passed away on June 17, 2018 in Yalta. His works are preserved in Ukrainian museums and private collections around the world, and continue to be featured in international auctions for their artistic excellence, cultural depth, and evocative beauty.
