Since November 1941, Moses Gantman has been at the front. Member of the defense of Moscow. In August 1942 he was seriously wounded and evacuated to Alma-Ata. He was awarded the medal "For Courage".
During the evacuation, Gantman met the famous Ukrainian artist (student of N. Pimonenko and A. Murashko) A. Cherkassky, who advised and helped Moses to enter the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in 1943, specializing in film design. Academicians P.I..Kotov and F.S. Bogorodsky became his teachers. During his studies in Moscow, he maintained friendly relations with prominent Soviet painters Yu.I. Pimenov and P.P. Konchalovsky. In 1949, Moisey Gantman defended his diploma and received a job assignment to the Kiev Film Studio.
Since 1949 - art director of the film studio named after I. A. Dovzhenko, where he worked with A. Buchma, S. Bondarchuk, S. Paradzhanov, I. Savchenko. Major works: design for feature films "Taras Shevchenko" (1951), "Earth" (1954), "One Fine Day" (1955), "Born by the Storm" (1957), "If You Love" (1959) ), "Makar Dibrova" (1960), "Ukrainian Rhapsody" (1961), "Blue Arrow" (1962), etc.

Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1961.
In 1964 he went to work in the creative and production association "Artist".
He worked in the field of easel painting. The most striking in the work of M.F. Gaitman was the landscape. It was in him that an individual and subtle vision of the surrounding world, a sense of color and texture, was revealed. T.N. Yablonskaya loved his winter landscapes.
In the late 1980s, front-line wounds reminded of themselves and an unsuccessful operation made Moisey Faibovich bedridden for the rest of his life. To the best of his ability, the artist continued to work, giving preference to drawing and pastels
He died on August 9, 2010.
The works of M.F. Gaitman presented in museum and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
