About the artist: Victor Stognut will open a personal performance at the Madame Palmgren Gallery in Lviv on Saturday, April 14. The exhibition will last for a month.

On the occasion of his 60th birthday, Victor Stognut will exhibit more than 30 paintings in the Madame Palmgren Gallery over the past two years. He chose the best, and the artist is very demanding.

"Not all works can be expressive. Well how much can an artist do in a year? Well, he can do three good things, well, four, well, let him do a maximum of five, ”Viktor Stognut shares his thoughts.

This artist is a plein air artist. Therefore, it can often be found with an open-air easel somewhere in the mountains or between flowering trees.

“What is a plein air? This is a hint, nature tells you what to draw. You can sit at home and come up with what you want to paint, but at home it will never be done as in nature, "- adds the artist.

He is first and foremost a master of classical landscape, portrait and still life, who built a bridge with Ukrainian classics of the late XIX century. Has a feeling of halftones and light shadows. Mr. Victor loved to paint the Crimea, but after the annexation of the peninsula he discovered the picturesque Transcarpathia.

“In Transcarpathia, he painted the river Uzhok, which all Transcarpathian artists painted. And there are such colorful villages, so not spoiled by civilization, "- admits the artist.

But the artist gets the greatest pleasure from the immediate nature of our lands, near Lviv, so for many years he painted the banks of the river Shchyrka.

"In some places it winds among the fields, in others it is already among the hills, and there you look, it goes between the willows, and it is so beautiful that you want to live there," says Victor Stognut.

But the artist remains faithful to the Lviv Carpathians, so the exhibition will show landscapes from Slavske and the surrounding area.

He advises to come to his exhibition at the Madame Palmgren Gallery several times, because he will change the exposition with new paintings each time during the month.
