Victor Vladimirovich Babentsov (1921–2012) is a world-famous Ukrainian painter whose works have been presented at leading international auctions, consistently attracting the attention of discerning collectors. His paintings are highly valued for their emotional depth, expressive brushwork, and masterful ability to combine lyrical landscapes with a profound reflection of history and human experience.
Babentsov’s art is distinguished by a vibrant palette, dynamic compositions, and an authentic Ukrainian spirit that resonates with both national identity and universal themes. His canvases embody both beauty and strength, making them sought after by private collectors and museums alike.
Born on February 5, 1921 in Litvinovka, Dnipropetrovsk region, Babentsov studied at the Dnipropetrovsk Art College (1938–1939) and later at the Kiev Art Institute (1946–1952) under the guidance of renowned masters Karp Trokhimenko and Volodymyr Kostetsky. A veteran of World War II, he carried the experience of those years into his art. He debuted at the republican exhibition in 1951, became a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine in 1956, and was honored with the title Honored Worker of the Arts of the Ukrainian SSR in 1977. In 2004, he received the highest recognition as People’s Artist of Ukraine. His works are preserved in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, numerous regional galleries, and important private collections worldwide.
