Nikolai Petrovich Glushchenko (1901–1977) is a world-famous Ukrainian painter whose works have been presented at leading international auctions and remain highly valued by collectors. His art is admired for its vibrant color, expressive brushwork, and lyrical depictions of both Ukrainian landscapes and European cityscapes.

Glushchenko’s paintings are celebrated for their unique combination of impressionistic sensitivity and decorative power. His works capture the richness of Ukrainian nature, the charm of Paris, Berlin, and Prague, as well as scenes of everyday life, radiating optimism, warmth, and beauty. He became one of the central figures of Ukrainian art in the 20th century and a true master of color.

Born on September 17, 1901, in Novomoskovsk (Dnipropetrovsk region), Glushchenko studied in Germany at the Berlin Academy of Arts (1920s), where he developed his distinctive style. In the interwar period he lived in Europe, particularly in Paris, where he exhibited widely and gained recognition among the artistic elite. Returning to the Soviet Union in the 1930s, he became an active participant in exhibitions, shaping the image of modern Ukrainian painting.

Throughout his career, Glushchenko received high state honors, including the title People’s Artist of Ukraine and later People’s Artist of the USSR (1976). His works are preserved in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the Tretyakov Gallery, and numerous regional museums, as well as in private collections around the world. Regularly presented at international auction houses, Glushchenko’s paintings remain in strong demand for their artistic brilliance, cultural value, and timeless emotional appeal.
