This oil painting cardboard, titled "Village and blue mountains", the composition is enriched with expressive brushstrokes and a bold use of color, creating a dynamic interplay between the land, sky, and rustic village structures. In the foreground, the rolling landscape is painted with thick, impasto strokes of green, blue, and yellow. These colors blend seamlessly, depicting a lush, fertile land that appears to be bathed in the soft light of the setting or rising sun. The artist’s expressive use of color captures the richness of the fields, showing undulating patches of cultivated land and pathways that lead the viewer’s eye deeper into the painting. The middle ground is dominated by the village, where quaint houses with red and earthy roofs contrast with the cool tones of the surrounding environment. The buildings, painted with strong, confident strokes, evoke a sense of warmth and shelter. The texture of the rooftops and walls gives an impression of aged, weathered surfaces, reinforcing the idea of a rustic, lived-in space. The architectural details are suggested rather than defined, allowing the viewer’s imagination to fill in the finer elements of rural life. Nestled within the village, a tall structure, possibly a church or a historic tower, rises above the rooftops. This feature serves as a focal point, adding a sense of tradition and community to the scene. The spire-like silhouette stands against the backdrop of an expansive sky, connecting the human presence to the vastness of nature. The background showcases majestic blue mountains that stretch across the horizon. The artist uses various shades of blue and purple to render the mountains, creating depth and atmosphere. The mountains appear slightly softened, suggesting distance and the natural haze that often blankets distant peaks. Their presence adds a sense of grandeur and tranquility to the scene, reinforcing the peaceful coexistence of human settlement and untouched wilderness. Above the village, the sky is a symphony of swirling blues, purples, and soft pinks, reflecting either the last light of the evening or the gentle hues of an early morning sky. The artist’s energetic brushwork imbues the sky with movement, as if the clouds are shifting dynamically with the changing light. The interplay of colors in the sky enhances the mood of the painting, adding both contrast and harmony to the composition.
