Alexander Fedorovich (Alexander Gustav Adolf) Gaush (1873–1947) is a world-renowned painter and graphic artist whose works have been featured at leading international auctions and remain highly valued by discerning collectors. He is celebrated for his impressionistic landscapes and refined still lifes, reflecting a lyrical sensibility and exceptional command of color and atmosphere.

Gaush’s paintings are admired for their expressive yet delicate brushwork, harmonious compositions, and a poetic mood that evokes both intimacy and elegance. As a member of influential artistic circles — including the New Society of Artists and the Mir Iskusstva (World of Art) — he helped shape the cultural currents of early 20th-century Russian and Ukrainian art.

Born on August 30, 1873, in St. Petersburg, he studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1893–1899) under Alexander Kiselev and Pavel Chistyakov, and briefly at the Académie Julian in Paris (1895). He received the formal title of “artist” in 1899 and was a prominent participant in exhibitions with the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, the New Society of Artists, the Association of South Russian Artists, the Union of Youth, and the World of Art group.

Gaush lived and worked in several Russian and Ukrainian cities, including Sevastopol (1924–1928), Odesa (1928–1938), and later in Simferopol, where he passed away on September 7, 1947.
