Anatoly Alexandrovich Plamenitsky (1920–1982) is a world-renowned Soviet-Ukrainian painter and teacher whose works have been presented at leading international auctions and are admired by collectors for their expressive realism, strong color sense, and evocative genre scenes. He is celebrated as one of Ukraine’s respected artists of the postwar period, known both for his artistic work and his impact as an educator.

Plamenitsky’s art is distinguished by its vivid realism, nuanced handling of light and shadow, and emotionally resonant depictions of everyday life, rural scenes, and Ukrainian subjects. His works combine technical skill with poetic observation, making them appealing to museums and private collectors worldwide.

Born on November 19, 1920, Plamenitsky studied at the Kharkiv Art Institute (KHI), where he trained under masters including I. Shtilman, K. Yelyev, and O. Shovkunenko. After his graduation in 1953, he both exhibited his works and later taught at his alma mater. In 1963, he was appointed as a professor, and over time earned recognition as an Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (from 1964), later receiving the title People’s Artist of Ukraine in 1976.

Plamenitsky’s works are preserved in Ukrainian museums and in private collections across Europe. He passed away in 1982. His paintings remain regularly presented at international auction houses, valued for their artistic quality, cultural depth, and ability to capture the beauty and character of Ukrainian life.
