The author’s painting “Native Land. At Rest” (1957) is perceived as a historical epic, where life appears not elevated to buskin and embellished with loud exclamations, but in its harsh and difficult truth. The artist does not seek to amaze the viewer with the originality of the situation or the exclusivity of his characters. Obviously, it is precisely because of this that the artistic image of the painting acquires great importance. impression. A diverse crowd takes part in its creation, where each person, if you look closely, has his own biography, and the entire pictorial and plastic solution of the canvas. Unobtrusively highlighting the central group of soldiers listening to the words of the old soldier, a sequence of shots is subtly built, allowing one to feel the depth of space with a very high horizon, an expressive and colorful solution with a wide gradation of greenish, brown, gray, blue tones and sharp black and white contrasts. The result is a feeling of special strength, powerful and resilient, able to withstand any test.
