About the artist: Honored Artist of Ukraine (2009). Laureate of the regional award named after J. Bokshaya and A. Erdely (2005). Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1993.
He was born in Uzhhorod. His father is the People's Artist of Ukraine Vasyl Gabda, a talented artist, a student of Adalbert Erdely, Yosyp Bokshay and Fedor Manail, and his mother is a teacher at the school. The creative atmosphere in the family and the environment in general played an important role in the formation of Vladislav Gabda as a person, an artist. He remembers that he started drawing from the moment he started walking. He considers his father to be his first and main teacher, he worked a lot next to him, they went to plein airs together. In 1980 he graduated from the Department of Art Ceramics of the Uzhhorod School of Applied Arts. NA Averkieva was a teacher of the artist's profession.
In his work, Vladislav Gabda went his own way. The artist is in constant search of expression, experimenting a lot with color, materials and plane. Color is the basis of a series of works by the artist, Vlad studies the combination of the palette and from time to time either "stays" in black for a long time, or "comes out" in explosive colors. He freely improvises in a variety of techniques, styles and directions of modern art.
According to art critics, “Vlad Gabda's paintings attract the attention of the viewer, who falls into the area of action of colored planes, feels their energy and attractiveness. The artist conveys magnetism, strength, expression of colors, their shades and combinations, enjoys the freedom to play with colors, signs, symbols. The artist is not in love with the already achieved, known. He sets himself new tasks and goes on a difficult path to the unknown, to an urgent dialogue with himself and the world. "
Author of more than ten solo exhibitions, in particular, abroad - in Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia, France, Germany. Recent solo exhibitions - "Game" (Gallery "Uzhgorod", 2011), "Utilitarian in White" ("Voto", 2015), "Autumn" ("Voto", 2016), "INFORMEL" (Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum, 2016 ), “Canvas. Oil ”(Art Wheel, 2017). In 2011, a personal catalog of Vladislav Gabda's works entitled "Game" (2011) was published by Oleksandra Garkusha Publishing House.
He is a regular participant of collective all-Ukrainian and foreign expositions and plein airs. The artist's works are in museums in Uzhhorod, Kyiv, Trebishov, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, Germany, France and the USA.
