Critics and art historians - the artist's contemporaries - emphasized vivid imagery and nationality in Gluck's work. For example, art critic E. Polyanskaya notes “the artist's constant craving for portraying workers is a distinctive feature of the realist artist's work. One of the best works of Gavriil Martynovich is considered - "Lumberjacks on the watch of the world" (1950). There is no far-fetchedness, artificiality, on the contrary, the figures of lumberjacks, bathed in the sun, brightly lit and monumental. The artist continued to work on the theme of the working person and his relationship with the outside world. The owners of the forests - people and technology - were emphasized in the work of G.M. Gluck. That is why the next work, which brought the artist European and world fame, was the painting "Woodcutters" (1954). Step by step, the author approached the creation of his famous canvas, practiced many etudes and a large mass of artistic sketches and attempts. In his works, the artist focused on the benevolence and friendliness of people. This kindness and openness to the world will become the leitmotif of the artist's creativity ”(V. Mishanich“ Vidatny Artists of Transcarpathia ”).
