About the artist: Provincial cities of Ukraine… They have experienced a time of great rise and time of fall. The time of the appearance of the city of Krolevets dates back to the beginning of the 17th century, ie this provincial town appeared half a century earlier than the regional center - Sumy.

Years and centuries passed… Settlements and, in particular, Krolevets changed. Back in the 1930s, it was a cozy, clean town immersed in greenery.

Today, of course, high-rise buildings are increasingly displacing buildings of the early 20th century. and each such building has a history… There is an unremarkable house on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street in the center of the city №2. It was in it that the handwritten notes of the famous Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko were found. At one time, the artist Volodymyr Mykhailovych Rudenko lived in this house

He was born on June 22, 1916 in the town of Krolevets, in the family of amateur artist Mykhailo Ivanovych and Praskoviya Samiylivna.

As mentioned in 2001, NV Yakymenko (a veteran of pedagogical work, an excellent public educator, a native of Krolevets; in the distant postwar years she embroidered a shirt with VM Rudenko together with her sister Varya): me. But I talked to his parents often. She loved to watch the work of Mikhail Ivanovich. Even during the war he did not part with the brush. Even the Germans liked his paintings, they commissioned works from the master and always paid money, because they respected Mikhail Ivanovich and his work. And Mikhail Ivanovich painted shrouds for churches… In the house of Rudenko there were many books, magazines, music notebooks, beautiful furniture. Everyone in the Rudenko family is an intelligent, cultured person була There was a carriage workshop in the Rudenko estate. Volodymyr's grandfather made carriages, and near the house there were many flowers that were given to us, the little ones. Served with apples. They lived, I would say, impoverished, but not poor. Maria Ivanovna, Volodymyr Rudenko's aunt, was a teacher, graduated from women's higher courses in Petrograd and the conservatory, had a charming voice; her husband Vyacheslav Ivanovich worked in a printing house. Vladimir Mikhailovich's mother knew how to sew well… »

From the book by A.V. Karasya, director of the Krolevets Museum of Local Lore: “The artist and art critic Oleksa Vasyliovych Hryshchenko was a frequent guest at the Rudenkos' house. He painted a portrait of Maria Ivanovna, a photo of which he placed in his business card… »

After graduating from high school and art studio, Vladimir Mikhailovich went to study in Moscow. He studied for two years at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography, and in 1949 graduated from the Moscow Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts. His teachers were:

Professor FS Bogorodsky, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, laureate of the State Prize - in painting;
Solovyov OM - Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences - according to the drawing;
Ruble VO - on the composition.
Vladimir Mikhailovich - a participant in World War II.

In 1949 he went from Lviv to the Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts, where he taught composition and plastic anatomy; at the Ivan Fedorovich Polygraphic Institute - works at the Department of Book Design, at the Lviv Regional Puppet Theater - as the chief artist.

He took part in regional and national exhibitions of works with landscapes, portraits of actors in the technique of oil painting, charcoal, pastels. He has held solo exhibitions in Lviv, Kyiv, Moscow, Budapest, and Warsaw.
